Another packed afternoon of sailing at Champion Lakes with three classes sailing which included club championship sailing for both 10R & IOM at Champion Lakes on 19th July.
While it was a small fleet of M's & 10's the racing was extremely close with the 10's always giving the M's something to chase and with eight races sailed it was Glenn Dawson who came out on top with a win in the 10R club championship while in the M's, Sean Wallis took the win comfortably in another day of light winds.
A good fleet of 11 IOM's then hit the water for some 'challenging' sailing in the light NE breeze and while Sean got of to a great start winning the first two races, it was Edgar Vitte who took control of the day. After Simon Ellis won race 3, Edgar strung together a succession of wins to position himself in an unbeatable position by race 8 and moves himself just two points behind Sean for the overall IOM club championship series.
While the racing is frustrating in the light breezes, weed at Champion Lakes is minimal and certainly not impacting the overall racing although it could be worthwhile asking Glenn what he thinks about garbage bags!
Our calendar is jam packed full of sailing with IOM Club Racing SCR next weekend 26th July from 1400 and then a huge day scheduled for Sunday 2nd August with four classes sailing from 0930.
